Bobby Truhe

Attorney

Bobby Truhe was a scratch golfer (before 3 kids), so he was originally hired as our golf ringer.  Even though his handicap crept up a few points, it turns out he was a pretty good lawyer, too.  We’ve decided to keep him around even though we don’t use all of his shots in our golf scrambles.

Bobby was raised in Elk Point, South Dakota and is licensed to practice law in both South Dakota and Nebraska. Bobby has spent his entire legal career advising education clients on school law issues of every kind.  In particular, he has a passion for constitutional law, having briefed First Amendment issues in multiple federal court cases in the district of Nebraska.  Finally, Bobby has a particular expertise in advising education clients on strategies for understanding and complying with the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (“Obamacare”).

An entertaining and engaging public speaker, Bobby speaks frequently to a variety of education groups on all manner of topics. Bobby regularly presents to students, staff members, and parents on digital citizenship issues. He relates particularly well to high school students because that baby face makes them look about the same age.

Bobby graduated with high distinction from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln honors program with a major in Spanish (ole!) and a minor in English in 2008.  He graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Law with high distinction in 2011.

Bobby is also the father of Sophie, Rhett, and Tylie, the cutest kids in America. It goes without saying that his kids take after Bobby’s wife, Chrissie, who is a Senior Director of Development at the University of Nebraska Foundation.

Fun Facts

• Bobby is the equivalent of an apiarist who hates honey, a Spanish major who struggles with conversational Spanish.
• 10+ cornhole league championships at the bar The Bar in Lincoln, NE-- a 90’s Bulls -type of run (or a misspent youth, up for debate).
• Jordan is convinced Bobby is a dead ringer for the Lego Man; Bobby is convinced Jordan needs glasses.
• Bobby is convinced he was one of the first people ever to use TouchTunes (shoulda been a DJ) and convinced he has the widest musical palette in the firm (just ask him).
