For use in introducing Karen at a DigCit Student Session

Her name might be Karen, but don’t worry, she’s not here to be a “Karen.” She’s a mother of two now-adult-ish children who grew up with smartphones in their pockets, and she has spent most of her professional life helping schools and students grapple with the reality of always being one button away from going viral. Karen loves TikTok and Snapchat as much as anyone – just ask her about her Snap streak with her BFF Shari – but she’s also seen pretty much every way that the use of these platforms can go wrong. While she’s still struggling to teach her dog to talk like Bunny the Sheepadoodle and become an internet star, she’s way better at teaching students about their own online presence and digital citizenship.
